  • COUNTY HIGHWAY ENGINEER

The Monroe County Road Commission is currently seeking a County Highway Engineer. The County Highway Engineer plans and directs the operations of the engineering department, supervises departmental personnel, directly or through subordinates and participates in designing and implementing Road Commission construction projects and associated responsibilities. He/she recommends short and long range construction plans and their priority, works with the rest of the management team to set policies and resolve road commission issues, and interacts closely with the other Road Commission departments. Salary negotiable.


Minimum qualifications required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan, and valid driver’s license to operate vehicles in Michigan.


Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years professional engineering experience Knowledge of construction inspection and testing procedures, knowledge of roadway and bridge design, of MDOT and AASHTO design requirements and procedures, and MDOT and FHWA construction and record-keeping requirements, including field manager.

  • Director of Finance

The Monroe County Road Commission is currently seeking a Director of Finance. The Director of Finance is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the financial, accounting and budgetary functions for the Monroe County Road Commission (MCRC). The Director of Finance is accountable for leading the management staff in the MCRC’s financial and accounting policies, systems and processes, regulatory requirements, payroll systems and processes and controls, ongoing financial modeling and annual business plan, supervises the Finance Department, and possesses the ability to perform a variety of accounting/finance/fund accounting functions including budget control and preparation, management of all fiscal records, inventory files, fixed assets, general ledger, monthly and year end reporting. Salary negotiable.


Minimum qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or Finance.


Preferred qualifications: Five (5) years’ experience in Accounting or Finance including governmental accounting procedures and Fund Accounting, experience working with Act 51 accounting methods and procedures, CPA or CMA certification, five (5) years management experience.

  • Temporary Laborer/Truck Driver Positions
